         All Fauquier County Public School after school programs, scheduled for today Wednesday, February 20th, have been cancelled, including WYSC practices.

Saturday, February 16th PB SMITH GAMES.

         Today at 3:30 we received a call from PB Smith School. The custodian scheduled to open and supervise the school tomorrow, is in the hospital. The school has attempted, but was unable, to find a replacement custodian.

         All games scheduled for tomorrow at PB Smith have to be cancelled.

         The immediate plan is to reschedule all these games to next Sunday, February 24th, at Fauquier HS.

         Fauquier HS will confirm the gym’s availability early next week. A follow up email will be sent next week to confirm if Fauquier will be available.

         The best wishes to the custodian, we hope she recovers quickly.

Referee Bonus Program!!!!!!!

This winter WYSC offers 2 Referee BONUS programs.

The 1st bonus program is intended to reward those referees doing an great job.

Coaches can award referee/s points by sending an email to basketball@wysc.org Emails MUST be received within 7 days of the game, and include referee name, age division, game date, time and location.
Each email will count as one (1) point. At the end of the season the 3 top referees will receive the following prizes;

1st price $100 | 2nd price $75 | 3rd price $50

The 2nd bonus program is intended to reward referees based on the number of games worked during the season.

For every 10 games worked during the season, a referee will receive payment for one (1) extra game.
This 2nd bonus will be paid at the end of the winter season.

Reporting Saturday Game Scores!!!!!!!

         All coaches should have received an email with detail explanation of how to report the Saturday game scores.

         Scores are to be reported, by phone, to WYSC automated score system. Once the scores are reported the system is updated, and the new standings posted.

         Divisions Boys 7/8 and Girls 7/8 do not need to report scores.

         Here are the steps the game’s WINNING team need to follow to report the game score;

Dial the toll free number, provided to coaches.
When asked, say or enter the pin number (provided to coaches) of the event.
Then enter the code of the game score you are reporting (found next to the game on the schedule).
You will then be told the division, teams playing, and field location - if this is the correct game, confirm by saying yes.
When asked, say or enter the score for each team, then confirm.
Then just say goodbye when done.

         Game scores MUST BE REPORTED no later than Friday after the game, prior to the next Saturday game.

         Game scores not reported by Friday will be scored with a final score of 0-0 game.

Winter Program Fundraiser!!!

         Earn rewards for you and/or your team when helping with WYSC's fundraiser.

         WYSC is conducting a fundraiser this year. During the first couple of weeks, during practice, your child 's coach will be providing you with the fundraiser envelope.

         The goal of this fundraiser is to raise money for a new outdoor basketball facility in Warrenton. The new facility will be used for youth summer basketball as well as youth/adult basketball summer leagues. The facility, when not in use by WYSC would be available for use by Fauquier County youth. This fundraiser is WYSC’s first step towards the construction of an outdoor basketball facility.

         Our fundraiser offering is a community business punch card filled with free and discounted services provided by local businesses in and around Warrenton.

         Just by using the 2 free rounds of golf and a free oil change, a card buyer will profit over $105.00. With the additional family discounts from restaurants, a local Spa, bookstore and drycleaners, a card buyer’s profits can reach over $200!

         Each player selling the fundraiser cards will have a chance to earn a $10 gift certificate at selected stores for every 5 punch cards they sell. Also, any team that sells 25 or more punch cards will be given a check in the amount of $30 to be used towards their end of the year team awards banquet or party.

         Teams that sell 40 cards or more will receive a check for $100 for their team party.

         Complete forms can be dropped off at Warrenton's Cold Stone Creamery, next to Jerry's Pizza, in the Sears mall.

         This is a great cause! Please help us by promoting the fundraiser to your friends, neighbors and families.

Co-ed 5/6 Division !!!!!

The Co-ed 5/6 is an instructional only division, with no weekly practices.
Players will get together on Saturdays.
Saturday practices for this division will be scheduled for 8:30 A.M.
Saturday practices will start Saturday January 12th, 2008.
The commissioner of the Co-ed 5/6 division is Kim Strayer.

Winter 2008 Program !!!!!

The schedule for the winter 2008 program;

Practices will start the week on January 7th, 2008.

Games scheduled for Saturday, January 12th, will be scrimmages, no referees.

Games scheduled for Saturday, January 19th, will use referees.

Team practice and game schedules will be posted by December 31st.

The season will include 8 Saturday games.

The last regular season to be played Saturday, March 8th.

Playoffs are scheduled for Saturday, March 15th.

Division championships are scheduled for March 22nd.

COED 5/6 team assignments:

Norther region - Team U56C-01
Central region - Team U56C-02
Souther region - Team U56C-03

If you are interested in receiving a refund please follow these steps;

Refund request need to be in writing. Refund deadline was December 17th, but will be extended to December 20th.

Send email to WYSC at basketball@wysc.org

Once we receive your email, WYSC will send you a confirmation email in return.

All refunds are assessed a $10.00 refund fee.

Late fees and donations are not refundable.

Refund checks will be mailed after the 4th week of the season, the first week in February.
